Small Groups Ministry

We will begin another All-Church study on February 15. To get the most from this study, get connected with a small group. Many small groups are forming and will meet for just the 5 weeks of the study. Consider a short-term small group. Sign up in the church lobby and in the Courtyard after the worship servcies. You may also contact the Director of Small Group Ministries, Terry Campbell, terry@cpcdanville.org, or 837-5525 x319.

Luke for Everyone

Questions for Sermon on
February 6-7

Thank you for joining us in our study of Luke. Our prayer is that each of you will follow the weekly readings and join together with others to discuss the questions sent to you each week in this email.  Look for our emails each Monday in preparation for the upcoming sermon the following weekend. For a PDF (printable) version of the Questions click here.

Our hope is that you will see God working in your life and in others around you and you will be able to take your next step in following Jesus.

The sermon this weekend, February 6th & 7th, is titled “Following Jesus . . . The Way of the Cross” and will be on Luke 20: 9-19. The questions below are to be used for your small group meeting that relates to this sermon.

1. How is God changing your life?

2. In what areas of your life are you a manager, but not an owner?

3. (vv. 9-10) Look into the image of the vineyard. Who planted? What is the vineyard? Who are the tenant farmers? What fruit did the owner expect in payment? (See Isaiah 5:1-7 for background which most Jewish people in Jesus’ day would know.)

4. (vv. 10-12 ) Who are the servants who were sent? What is the relationship of the owner and the tenants like?

5. (vv. 13-15) Why did the owner send his son at this point? What did the tenants hope to accomplish by killing the son?

6. (vv. 15-18) What will the owner of the vineyard do to them? Explain the image of the capstone/cornerstone (Quoted from Psalm 118:22). How did this parable apply to the teachers and priests?

REFLECT
7. What parallels can you see between Jesus’ time and today’s in relation to these themes?
